Norfolk based singer Billy King, born in Northern Ireland on March 23 1972, set of on the music trail at a very early age, and was inspired by such greats as Elvis, Buddy Holly and Merle Haggard.
His passion for the drumming came to the front when he would break many of his mum's knitting needles and ruin the furniture with constant hammering.
Billy joined his first band at the age of 12, and had his first gig at 13.
He is now influenced by the many visual bands like U2, Queen and Mettalica.
Billy felt different from the other members of his band - mainly because of his wilder taste in music especially country, which he grew up with thanks to his parents, John C King and the Family Band, who are great favorites on the country circuit, and who say "It's always been an honest way to put music across".
Billy started his drumming for his dad, who by this time had built up a reputation for being a real pure country singer.
Because of the popularity of Billy's father he admits he had a head start. Billy's passion for singing soon started to equal that of his drumming, but he had to wait until his voice broke. He was mostly influenced by Tim McGraw, Brooks and Dunn, Garth Brooks, John Michael Montgomery etc and he hopes to have a solo career and to "do his bit" to help put British country music back on track.
He feels it would be great to make British country music healthy again.
Billy writes some of his own material, and a number of these tracks tend to be more on the modern style of country, but as the song says: "You might catch me rocking 'but I'm country down to my soul".
He has a great love of life and his hobbies include roller blading, going out with friends and shocking people. When you first meet Billy his impish smile is very infectious and he is a credit to his profession.
Billy started his solo career only 18 months ago and is quickly getting himself established on the music scene single handed. He also plays the Acoustic, Mandolin and Electric Guitars.
